Meaning of clip codes

I remember to have read a blog post months ago where someone explained the meaning of the codes of clips. To know that meaning could be very useful in deciding which clips to group in a playlist without having to view them.

For example, there are clips belonging to a greater "scene", like in Aislin: ***** Takeover. There one clip is encoded as
f0153_sc2_9101.demo
"f0153" is obviously the number of the model card titled "***** Takeover". Then it seems part of a greater scene "sc2" which allows to connect them to other "sc2"-clips of "***** Takeover" resulting in a consistent and progressing show.

But there are other examples, where this is not possible, e.g. Alba da Silva: "Sex On A Leash". Here you find codes like
f0343_2048401.vghd, and I am completely without any clue what to make of that. Another clip is named
f0343_22528403.vghd and I wonder, how both connect or don't.

Somebody has already explained it somewhere in this blog, but who and where?

Finally: Some clips have an added symbol (or icon) that looks like a handbag. Does this indicate the use of props? (Or has the model just forgot her handbag when leaving and istripper tells here this way to come back and collect it? Which would be a great opprtunity for a new show.)

Thanks for all answers.

P.S. There are so many great ideas and products here that improve user experience. Not being a nerd I nevertheless try to grab what IT specialists are talking about. But I want to put it simple: Are their tools or improvements that run on a Mac and can be used without years before applying to MIT and study programming?

The Handbag icon indicates that the clip features an accessory.

This may be almost anything - a handbag, a hat, a parasol, a riding crop, a stool, an armchair, a desk, a bath, a motorbike, a car or a sex toy. On iStripperXXX cards it is, I think, always a sex toy but that can not be guarenteed. The large items were quite common in old cards but are now not used (which I think is a pity).

My thanks to TheEmu. The handbag question is solved.
Two strikes remain:
1. What is the meaning of the clip code?
2. Are there any improvements to iStripper running on Mac?

I think the encoding of file names in Windows and on the Mac does not differ.

###

When a show is played in the desktop mode, then the clips are played in a sequence if possible.
This is possible since late 2014. Older shows play the clips only one by one.

It is possible that two clips are played directly one after the other, if the coding of the clips allows this.
In other cases, one or more transition clips (ITxx) are played between the two clips.

Yes. The encoding scheme is the same on a Mac as on Windows. I have an AppleScript (Mac application) that will decode all card and clip information from the models.lst file, the card's XML file and the clip file number and generate CSV files that can be imported into a spreadsheet. It's out of date because I stopped maintaining it when I developed my Playlist Generator. Send me your email address in a Private Message and I'll be happy to send you a copy.

Are there any improvements to iStripper running on Mac?

NO! To the best of my knowledge iStripper does not run as well on the Mac as it does under Windows. My household has been a Mac-only environment since 1985 and I've never owned a DOS or Windows computer. I presently have a 2013 Mac Pro with three attached displays and a 2016 MacBook Pro. I've noted the following issues when running iStripper on my Mac's:

1. You can not place a card on top of a window in the Mac environment.

2. When I play multiple cards on multiple monitors at the same time the responsiveness of iStripper becomes terrible. Latency time for a mouse clip can exceed 3 minutes. I only play cards on one display for this reason.

3. Even when playing on one display, every so often iStripper has an attack of "the slows". Latency can exceed 2 minutes, but this only lasts for 2-10 minutes before iStripper returns to normal behavior. I suspect garbage collection, but I have no evidence.

4. It is not possible to change the currently playing clip using a program. This capability exists for Windows and existed for the Mac with VirtuaGirl. When iStripper was released, it was lost for the Mac. I suspect an error when Totem ported iStripper from Windows to the Mac, but they have never corrected it. Under Windows this capability is achieved by changing a value in the Registry. On the Mac the same capability was achieved by changing a value in the iStripper Preference File. That value is still present in the Preference File, but changes are now ignored.

If you have any other iStripper Mac-related questions, I'll try to answer them. I've done a lot of experimenting with iStripper on my Macs.

RE: sc clips

@Wyldanimal is the expert on this. My understanding is the sc clips were intended to be played in order. That is all the sc1 clips should be played in order of increasing hotness. I don't think iStripper has logic to do this, but I haven't done any experimenting to confirm this. Only some older XXX cards have sc clips.

I would like to send a private message to Dorsai6 and thank him for his answers and asking him for his Apple script.
But I don't know how to send such a message: from what adress to what adress?
Sorry, that's definitely stupid , but I just use my computer instead of programming it. If there is an easy way to send you a private message, please show and tell.
Thanks.

I just sent you a PM and you should be able to reply. To send a PM, you click on the person's icon and a dialog box appears showing their collection. On the middle left is a button "Send a message". It took me a while to discover this too.

Some times I think the Totem developers are gamers who enjoy discovering new capabilities in their software. I'm a business systems developer who want all capabilities to be well advertised and obvious. I ***** having to right click on an icon to discover it contains a non-obvious feature. The trash can icon of iStripper is an example of this bad practice.

Ha, brings back memories.

I decode all of this back in 2008, when I wrote my Clip Player program.
( double click on a clip file and it would play that clip )

I sat and watched clip after clip after clip, till I had enough notes to figure out
what the Numbers all meant...

There's a lot more to it than that.. but that's how I figured it out...
trial and error

Then I wrote a post on the forum with all of my findings.
A member of the QA team at that time,
wrote back that I was close...
well I was spot on, just I had used the Final sums of the bit patterns in my post
I had known it was based on a bit pattern, but I didn't have, at that time, broken down what each bit was used for.

with this members list of bits,
I was able to compare it to mine, and confirm my own trial and error findings, and write my Clip Player, as a GUI based
app.

It no longer works with the Current version of iStripper, and I will probably not develop it any further..
this was the First ADD On approved by the Team.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to basic interfaces.
Nice and simple,

but with powerful advanced features, available to those who know where they are.
Right Click, Shift Click, Ctrl Click, Function Key menus
Advanced Menus - Yes !

I side with @Dorsai6 on this point. This is a consumer product and all features should be in obvious places not hidden away behind multi-fingered key presses and two or more levels of menu. In the particular case in question why would anyone think that sending a Personal Message was hidden behind an icon that was labeled "Edit Profile" and the same is true for the go to Website button. What has either of these actions, from a user's point of view, to do with their profile let alone editing it? I suspect that the features have been gathered together because they share some common implementation (they need access to the user's profile) but that is an implementor's view of things, not a users.

It is no good saying that users should read the manual (though they should be encouraged to do so) as the need to read a manual has long been regarded as obsolete for this type of program and most users have the expectation not to have to do so.

One of the Best Programs I ever used was Bryce 3D
I loved that program and GUI design. It was Brilliant.
As you hovered your mouse the Interface grew to show more and more features.
when you moved your mouse away, many of them shrank and faded away to nothingness..

Simple Basic features exposed,
and the more advanced features only exposed when needed.

@Wyldanimal - I will agree with you about that, but that is pretty much the opposite of having to remember "arcane" combinations of key presses or key and mouse click combinations. One ***** thing I really dislike about the iStripper interface is having to change from using the mouse to using the keyboard to do simple things like "refresh" (F5) or "go back to previous page" (backspace) rather than clicking on an icon as in in most (all?) web browsers. In my case the effort to switch to the keyboard is often significant - it is usually out of reach when I am just relaxing with iStripper.

As long as the control to turn them on is obvious, I agree. Keep it simple for those who prefer less clutter. On the other hand, if some obscure command is need, that I argue UI design malpractice.

Thats fine for me.

NO! To the best of my knowledge iStripper does not run as well on the Mac as it does under Windows.

The irony is: iStripper running on windows via vmware on mac is smoother than native mac version on the same hardware 😐
